The first sheet is the syllable chart: every basic consonant combined with every basic vowel, 140 blocks, which is how Korean children learn to read. After it come practice rows for all 40 letters, doubles and compound vowels included.

Double consonants

Reading the grid. ㅇ in first place is silent, which is why its row reads a, ya, eo. At the end of a block it is ng.

Two sounds. ㄱ ㄷ ㅂ are g, d, b between vowels and nearer k, t, p at the start of a word. ㄹ is r between vowels and l at the end of a block.

How to use it

Trace the solid model, trace the faint one, then write the rest of the row from memory. Stroke order matters more than neatness: a letter built in the wrong order looks almost right and never looks right at speed. The squares have faint quarter guides because a Hangul letter almost never fills a square on its own. In a block it takes the left half, the top half or a corner, and the guides are what train your hand to judge that.
