-(으)ㄹ 수 있어요, can

Pattern

[stem] + ㄹ / 을 수 있어요 / 없어요

Literally 'there is a way to do it'. After a vowel add ㄹ 수 있어요 (갈 수 있어요), and a stem already ending in ㄹ just adds 수 있어요 (만들 수 있어요). After other consonants it is 을 수 있어요 (먹을 수 있어요). Swap 있어요 for 없어요 to say 'cannot'.

The mistake to avoid

For an everyday 'can't', 못 is shorter and more common: 못 가요. -(으)ㄹ 수 없어요 sounds firmer and more final.
