부터 / 까지, from and until

Pattern

[Start] 부터 [end] 까지

부터 marks a starting point and 까지 an end point, most often in time: 아홉 시부터 여섯 시까지. 까지 also works for places, 'as far as': 서울역까지 가 주세요. For a starting place, 에서 is the normal partner: 서울에서 부산까지.

The mistake to avoid

Learners reach for 부터 with places. For 'from here to there', 에서 ... 까지 is the natural pair.
