아니에요, 'is not'

Pattern

[Noun] 이 / 가 아니에요

아니에요 is the negative of 이에요/예요, and the noun before it takes 이/가: 저는 학생이 아니에요. On its own it is also a polite way to wave away thanks or an apology, much like 'not at all'.

The mistake to avoid

It is for nouns only. Verbs and descriptive verbs are made negative with 안 or -지 않아요: 안 비싸요, not 비싸 아니에요.
